Inspired by a historic photograph taken by Gordon Parks in Mobile, Alabama, Colored Entrance reflects on segregation, memory, and the resilience of Black communities. Through vibrant color, layered symbolism, and the recurring figure of a young girl, the piece contrasts the innocence of childhood with the realities of a divided America.
